Threshold Ritual
What It Is
A simple, self-created ceremony to acknowledge crossing from one season of life into another.
Why It Helps
Without ritual, transitions feel chaotic or invisible. Marking them—even privately—signals to your brain that change is happening and you’re paying attention. It creates a “before” and “after.”
What You Need
Something symbolic: cutting your hair, planting a seed, crossing a literal threshold, changing a piece of decor, writing on your body with washable marker.
How to Do It
Name what you’re leaving and what you’re stepping into. Choose a physical action that represents the shift. Do it with intention. Speak it aloud if that helps. Afterward, notice: you’re different now.
This Is Not Worship
It’s ceremonial psychology and rite-of-passage practice found across cultures.
Variations
Invite a witness, photograph the before/after, or revisit the ritual annually to see how you’ve grown.
